What is oral surgery?
Oral surgery includes many types of dental surgery. Some of the most common of these are wisdom teeth removal, dental implant placement, and root canal treatment. What is oral surgery like?
While oral surgery can be different based on the problem you're dealing with, all oral surgeries have one thing in common: Dr. Kasiri makes your comfort a top priority. He fully numbs the surgical area; most patients don't feel anything at all during surgery.
In the case of wisdom teeth removal, Dr. Kasiri first conducts X-rays to ensure that he knows the best place to make incisions for the surgery. After removing the wisdom teeth, he carefully sutures the gum tissue so you can begin the healing process.
In dental implant surgery, Dr. Kasiri implants a metal base in your jaw, where it serves as an anchor for the replacement tooth. Dental implant surgery may require two separate oral operations since the gum tissue needs to heal before the prosthetic tooth is attached.
During a root canal, Dr. Kasiri removes the infected portion of the tooth so that the healthy portion of the tooth can remain intact. After removing the infected tissue and cleaning the tooth, Dr. Kasiri typically puts a crown on the tooth.

- Arrange for a friend or family member to take you to surgery and bring you home afterward
- Don't drive until at least the day after your surgery
